Our weather conditions and
soil texture here in the South are perfect for raising a variety of Christmas
trees. Here at our farm we raise the IMPROVED VIRGINIA PINES.
We shear these heavily three or four times a year depending on amount
of rains received and growth. These trees have strong branches and
needles are very soft. We will have an abundance of these this year and
height ranges from 5 feet to l2 feet. Another variety that has done
well in our climate is the LEYLAND CYPRESS. This is a hybrid tree,
grown from a cutting rather than a seed, and they have a full soft texture
with lacy appearance. We also shear these trees. Leylands
at the farm this year range in size from 5 feet to almost 9 feet.
