     Rita's Rampage on the Farm

The following are pictures that have been taken since Rita made her appearance on Saturday morning September 24, 2005. We had evacuated to Huntsville, but returned late Wednesday, September 28th. The entry way to the farm was covered with downed trees, power lines strung everywhere, and we couldn't make it all the way back. We stayed at our son's home without electricity. Since no one in our area has electricity as of this date, we are operating with generators. We have had family come in to help as well as a church group and we have hired help also. We plan to open the farm on November 25, 2005.
The trees in our front yard are history. The sign is in a different location but you still have a slight view of our house and the flag, while a bit tattered, is still flying.

Our longhorns have an open range now with trees down on almost all the fencing.

Looking for a break in the fence and they found it! They were headed down the road and after roundup time, too many times, we had to sell our Longhorns.

Uprooted trees on the North side of the creek.

Two modern day Paul Bunyans, cutting up a massive oak in the front yard.

Chalet with downed trees in the background.

Three massive oaks in front of the barns, blown down in tandem.

Field of two year old Leyland trees, graced by a huge oak tree.

Huge oak uprooted outside the pavilion, wiping out a chicken house, a slab, window, fence and two baby turkeys.

The picnic area with the pumpkin patch across the fence with downed oaks.

View from the goat pen, looking toward the pavilion.

Chicken yard confusion.
